After Your Move.

Growing into your new home after the move has it’s own set of challenges. A good choice to make now would be to view this pitstop as a sacred time. The movers are gone, your home is both fully appointed and in some disarray. Give yourself a gift: take the time to infuse your staging and set up with gratitude. This prepares you to properly contextualize the tasks at hand, and cultivate joy in your new home now, as is.

Once we have left, and you find yourself surrounded by boxes, your work involves not only physically organizing your belongings but also helping your spirit adjust to a new environment through creating a sense of familiarity in the new space.

The best way to approach unpacking is as a ritual, paving your way to domestic health and enjoyment. The fresh start in your new home is yours to sculpt. Do the footwork. Light some incense or a candle. Have a coffee on the floor, using an unopened box as a table. Look at the room. Remember that this process is not just about unpacking boxes, but about settling into your new life and making it your own.

It is best to incorporate the “nice touch” elements into your approach early. Instead of viewing this work as a tedious chore, think of it as an opportunity for self-expression. Consider organizing your belongings in unique ways. Add personal touches to each room that reflect your personality and style. An effective question to ask is: “What can I put in this room to show that I love it here?” There is no wrong answer to that question, and the action you take will have a good ripple effect on you, when you see it.

As tasks go, the one you face now is huge. Take breaks when needed, but try to keep up a steady pace so that you can quickly breathe into your new home. Setting goals for each day or even each room can help keep you motivated. Having said that, be sure to stop, when practical, and assimilate the good parts of your new, unexplored life here. Cultivate that gratitude repeatedly.

Stick with it. Hopefully, you’re gonna be here awhile.

Challenges are inevitable during this transition period. Don’t let setbacks discourage you – instead, see them as opportunities for problem-solving and growth. When stashing boxes in the “to be dealt with later” area, do yourself a favor: stay organized by marking or using labels.

You can make the process of settling into your new home more enjoyable and fulfilling by envisioning your unpacking and sorting as the creative act it is. This work is serious: you are setting the stage, literally, for upcoming events.

Thank you for letting us be part of your move. Anything we can do for you in the future, we are at your service.
